Reflection Stories | Volume 2 | Story 7

The Letter Never Sent

After a painful misunderstanding, Elena wrote a long angry letter to her friend. She wrote every hurt, every accusation, every sharp sentence she had been storing for weeks.

When she finished, she felt relief. She folded the letter, addressed it, and placed it on the table. But before mailing it, she went for evening Mass.

During the homily, the priest said, "Not every true feeling must be spoken in the first form it arrives."

Elena returned home, read the letter again, and suddenly saw how much pain had shaped each line. She tore it up.

The next day she wrote another letter. This one still told the truth, but it spoke with dignity instead of fury. The friendship was not restored immediately, but the wound did not deepen.

Reflection

She learned that self-control is not silence at all costs. It is the wisdom to wait until truth can travel with charity.
