The Stone in the Shoe
Victor had a habit of complaining. If the tea was too hot, he complained. If the road was crowded, he complained. If someone made a mistake, he spoke as if life itself had failed him.
One day, while walking to church, a tiny stone slipped into his shoe. It annoyed him so much that he grumbled the whole way. At the church gate, an old priest stopped him and said, "You look like you are carrying a mountain."
Victor removed his shoe and showed the tiny stone. The priest smiled. "Many people do the same in their hearts. They let one small irritation spoil an entire journey."
Reflection
Victor laughed, but the words stayed with him. He realized how often he had let little discomforts grow into bitterness. From then on, whenever he was tempted to grumble, he would remember the stone and ask himself, "Is this worth carrying all day?"
