History
The Christian faith in Aldona is linked to Franciscan missionary activity, and the parish is considered the seventh parish established by the Franciscans in Bardez. The first church at Coimavaddo was built in 1569 as a modest structure of mud walls and a thatched roof.
A second church was built in 1596, and the present church structure developed further in the early 17th century, with the new church completed by 1610 according to historical accounts. Over time, the church expanded through additions such as the sacristy, parish house, and tower.

The church is especially known for its richly decorated interior, including symbolic murals that depict biblical scenes and religious themes. It also contains impressive statues and a visually striking sanctuary that give the church a distinctive character.
