History
The original chapel at Maina was built in 1782 and officially opened for worship by a provision dated 8 June 1783. At that time, it was part of the Curtorim parish and served the spiritual needs of the local Catholic families living in the area.
The chapel was elevated to parish status in 1960, marking an important step in the growth of the community. As the parish expanded, the old church building gradually became too small for the number of worshippers, and a new and more spacious church was built in its place.
