History
The parish church was built in 1663 and restored in 1792. It was inaugurated on 29 June 1650 according to parish history, and the church is associated with Dom Manoel Lobo da Silveira, a Portuguese fidalgo, who played a role in its construction.
Because the original church stood on a hill and was somewhat isolated from the local settlement, a new church building was constructed in 1984 in a more accessible location below the hill. That newer building is dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima.
The parish therefore has a rare dual structure: the old church for Sundays, funerals, major feasts, and Holy Week, and the new church for weekday worship.

The parish has around 400 Catholics and remains active and closely knit. Despite its small size, it has a lively community and a strong devotional identity.
