History
The origin of the church can be traced to a chapel that existed in Tropa in 1762. The chapel was affiliated to the parish of Siolim and was authorized and blessed in the same year.
The locality came to be called Tropa, meaning troops, because the Portuguese government had stationed military forces there to guard the frontier. The chapel therefore grew in a place shaped by both military and village life.
The chapel was rebuilt entirely in 1912, and later on 30 October 1971 it was elevated to parish status. Since then, it has developed into an independent parish with its own identity and traditions.

The parish has around 900 Catholics and remains active in worship, feast planning, and local community life. It is a close-knit parish where devotion and village memory remain very strong.
The parish house and hall were renovated and a new hall was inaugurated in 2007, helping the parish continue its work with better facilities. The cemetery was also blessed in 1950, strengthening the sacred landscape of the parish.
