History
The church began as a primitive chapel founded in 1746. It was raised to the status of a mission church from 1822 to 1846, and in 1846 it was affiliated to the parish of Arambol.
It was finally elevated to the status of a parish church by a provision dated 15 November 1934. The church has remained closely tied to the life of the small fishing and border village of Tiracol.
