Reflection Stories | Volume 1 | Story 9

The Window That Was Never Clean

A woman often looked out her kitchen window and complained about her neighbor's laundry. "That family never washes properly," she would say. "Look at those marks on the clothes."

Week after week she repeated the same criticism.

One morning she looked outside and gasped. "At last! Their clothes are finally clean!"

Her husband, who was making tea, quietly said, "No. I cleaned our window this morning."

The woman stood in silence.

How often do people judge others through the dust on their own hearts? Sometimes we call others careless, rude, proud or cold, while never noticing our own impatience, jealousy or harshness.
